2 weeks or 2 days?

June 25th, 2004

You know you’re a wimp when your doctor asks you, while you’re spread legged on the table, if you want her to strip your membranes and you waver and say “Uh no!! No! NO!”

And that’s after you say you just want this pregnancy to be over with.

I guess I’m all talk. Possibly having a baby in 48 hours? I don’t think so….. Maybe next week….

Also, I’m happy to say that I’ve only gained 28 pounds so far and that I’m even happier that I have a super high cervix because even though the baby has “dropped”, I don’t have a waddle.

I remember when my midwife asked me that.. I was dilated to 3 and 50% effaced. She stripped ‘em, and when I saw her a week later, I was still at 3 and 50. She stripped ‘em again, still nothing after 8 days. I ended up being induced a week and a half after my due date. I didn’t even have contractions after they broke my water - Em did NOT want to come out! LoL

Sex sounds like a whole lotta more fun than “stripping the membranes.” Dood, I had to Google that one as I was a strippin’ virgin.

Oh, and another thing…when your water breaks, it doesn’t always “gush” like it is reported. With my first, I thought I peed my pants like 10 times every time I stood up from the couch before I realized that my water must have broken. Even still, the loverly nursies did the “litmus test” and still did not detect any fluid. About 30 minutes later after lying supine, I called their green asses back in there and showed them. Once the “litmus test” proved it was fluid, then they were all about business. Fuckers.

My wife was induced when our son was born, including the part where they had to break her water. Understandably a strange sensation.

Hey, I waddle after too much bean dip. If it walks like a duck …
