Get a life

I have watched “South Park” for quite some time. Now that I have a kid and stuff, I don’t watch it as often as I used to, most likely because I forget.

But what’s the deal with everyone making a big wahoo because they make fun of Tom Cruise?

Oh my gosh! We can’t make fun of Tom Cruise because he is “powerful” and he might get mad.

Well, Tom, when you jump around on TV like an idiot and blab your mouth off to any newsperson that will listen, I say you’re fair game.

I didn’t see the episode but I read the recap. I didn’t get what the big deal was. Sounds like normal South Park to me.

According to a lexicographer who is studying trends in slang among young adults, the newest way to describe someone who has lost his/her mind is to say that the individual has “jumped the couch”. Anyone who saw him do that on Oprah would totally get that.

I don’t get all the Cruise worship either. He’s like a Stepford wife for the Scientology set, and his claims that he knows all about psychology and why it’s so bogus only seal the deal. Sure, we should be concerned about the level of a mind that believes that vitamins can cure a mental illness, but to be AFRAID of it? Nah! Only Katie Holmes needs to be afraid, and it looks like she’s already drinking that Kool-Aid, so I guess it’s too late to save her. Next stop? SILENT BIRTH.

    Yeah. Right!

They make fun of EVERYONE on South Park! Why should Tom be exempt? He is the most deserving celebrity EVER to get the South Park treatment. That show is genius. Now I’m going to go through my day singing “taco taco taco taco taco, taco burrito, taco burrito”. Thanks a lot, SJ!

I saw that episode, and I thought it was hilarious. They didn’t say anything that thousands of people haven’t been joking about for months. What’s the big deal?

Well, TC just fired his sister and Kate is pregnant, blah, blah, blah. It’s probably a pathetic attempt at publicity by his peeps. ‘Cause even Jesus is on SP.

Tom Cruise- I am so over him. He should have kept his mouth shut cause it is attched to one totally bizzarro head.

Let’s replace him! It is 2005, every one wants to be famous, should be easy enough!

I watched the bit on the CNN website and laughed my fool head off. All credit for the episode was given to Jane and John Smith. HAHAHA! Hilarious.

I totally want to make out the South Park guys because they’re funny. Not because they’re cute. Because they’re not.

And R. Kelly going into the closet? OHHHHHHHH MY GOD. Pee my pants funny. Tom Cruise is a dingleberry.

Don’t worry; I’ve made fun of Tom Cruise ever since his airplane movie first came out. And I’ll keep making fun of the stooge, too.

I really enjoy your writings, SJ. Its nice to know that I’m not the only one who views the world through sarcastic eyes.

I saw the episode and almost wet my pants. They also threw in John Travolta and R. Kelly to add in on the fun. I was dying. Go South Park! That fucking asshole deserves everything he gets!

    But are you high?
Tom said anythings about the South Park show. Maybe he don’t know about it yet.
Where does your reaction comes from?

A lot of people, mostly fucking haters like the fucking Curly Girl here, first post, make fun of Tom.

And it’s getting boring seriously. The man is quite entertaining on screen. Now I don’t care about the rest, even if I take Zoloft. I don’t give a f***

Am I high? Um, well if you count high on poopy diapers, then yes I am high. Tom Cruise is a public persona, therefore, I am allowed to make fun of him. Where does my reaction come from? My head. This little place in my head that makes me think of things such as “It is fun to make fun of tom cruise because he is a little man.”

Maria, dearest. It’s called “having an opinion”. See, Tom Cruise has an opinion and he doesn’t mind spewing it all over every person who doesn’t agree with him. Entertaining or not (and–recently–that’s up for discussion), the man acts as though he owns the right to control all human thought that runs counter to the brainwashing to which he submits. If Mr. Cruis-azy gets to have his opinoin, then I guess the rest of us can have our turn.

Tom Cruise was so upset at the Matt Lauer interview that he was almost levitating over post-partum depression discussion. You could almost see the spit flying out of his mouth as he shouted. Here’s a guy (Cruise) who barely scraped his way out of high school, has no college degree in ANYTHING, but who still thinks that starring in Mission Impossible I & II give him the right to run the Sigmund Freud department at University Of Everything. There’s a huge difference between actually KNOWING a lot about a subject (psychology) and having Scientology TELL you what to think about something.

Besides Scientology, Cruise’s biggest problem is that he is a little man who has started to believe his own press. Just because he believes it, doesn’t mean that I have to.

Guys, I think “Maria” is really Tom Cruise.

Remember, he had problems with school, spelling, etc. and
    Scientology “cured” him.

It’s not nice to make fun of short, retarted, involved in a cult, not comfortable with their own sexuality people.

    Be nice.

Sorry, I didn’t know about that. I didn’t know either that high school drop should shut up. I beleived in democracy. And still want to.

Torrie, sorry I’m not english or american.
Tell us about you after drescribing Cruise like that. You must be so wonderful.

Since when Tom Cruise is sacred ground? everyone is insulting him since more 20 years. What did he say again on SP? Just nothing.
You buy the media too much (gullible?), CNN talk about it like “big deal, how can they make fun of him?” but barely talk about the scientology bashing in South Park.
Yet, the writer of Get a life didn’t see the alteration of information.
And that’s call journalism? CNN has no balls to repeat “It’s a scam on a global sphere” quote in SP.
No, they just re re re runned the Tom Cruise on Oprah episode.

Who said media (and so, people) love to put famous people down?

Ok I don’t normally get in on this crap, but I’ve just got to say something here. Maria, please understand that I live in the United States, ok?

Since I am a U.S. citizen, I have a basic fundamental right to freedom of speech. I can express myself however I like (with a few exceptions of course).

Please understand that it’s everyone’s right to express how they feel on this issue. If you don’t like it, that’s fine, but your coming to this site to moan and complain about us making fun of Tom Cruise is pointless.

I guess you’re probably just trolling, and therefore have no life to live, but you are wasting valuable seconds of MY life by clogging up the comments board on my favorite blog, and this irritates me. Please go away. The rest of us here are very nice people. See? That was my right as an American citizen to say.

One more thing. If you aren’t from the U.S., and you don’t like our system of government, then why ARE you here? And you shouldn’t ask someone to “mind their own business” when you aren’t following your own advice. Seriously.

Maria- really…you must chill. Your tone is so NOT commensurate with the jockularity of ours. Although I am a tad puzzled about what a “psy” might be.
Are you attempting to abbreviate “psychic”? If so, thanks, but I cannot take any credit for that skill. If I could, I’d have a one-hour show on NBC just like Patricia Arquette.
Are you calling me “psycho?” I haven’t vaulted over one–NOT ONE–sofa, couch, divan or loveseat on Oprah’s show in…uh…never.

My husband suggested you were abbreviating the term “pussy”. Now, I confess that I HAVE one, but that doesn’t necessarily MAKE me one anymore than having a foot makes me a….you know…a foot. Also, my comments were rather strong and–traditionally– weak writing or speaking aren’t the calling cards of a pussy. Still, I do appreciate the positive ID. I am, in fact, a female.

The possibility remains that you were trying to insinuate that I’m a spy but you merely reversed the letters in a delightfully clever code. Still, that’s way off. I am not a spy. Or a psy. Or whatever.

I never suggested that people lacking higher education (ie. a college degree) should shut up. My own very lovely mother has no college and she has opinions aplenty. What I said was that Cruise’s claims to have “studied” or “know all about” psychology are sad and frantically desperate-sounding, given the foaming-at-the-mouth way in which he presses his case. For my own part, my degree required about 10 hours in psychology. Mostly, it was in adolescent psychology, but nonetheless I would never–and I mean NEVER–claim to know all about that area. (THIS BULLETIN JUST IN: I have three adolescent children, but I’m STILL NOT AN AUTHORITY IN ADOLESCENT PSYCH)

Cruise’s academic problems were a matter of public record and his lack of any schooling AFTER high school was replaced by acting in movies where he danced in his underwear and played high-powered attorneys and sports reps. Very nice…but not–I repeat–the same as intensive examination of human behavior.

I’m not judging. I’m just saying that checking books out of the library and reading them on your own without benefit of peer/teacher feedbackin a classroom setting doesn’t constitute knowing ALL ABOUT SOMETHING. I brush my teeth, but that doesn’t make me a dentist. There’s a
    distinction.

I used to love SP, but stopped watching it a while back because it seemed to be just the same joke over and over. I still pvr it for my 18 year old son, and have the episode cued up as we speak…gotta see what all the hubbub is about.

Tom Cruise has gone from a cutie patootie respected actor to someone we stand back from and cautiously poke with a stick…weirdo.

Man, sometimes I love the internet. Like, when you’re not really sure if you’re getting insulted or if it is just the language barrier, you know?

Either way, I’m not a journalist, but I play one on the Internet. And, by play one, I mean use the word “journalist” while discussing one’s privates.

Wow. I went away for the weekend and missed a wicked cat fight.

Like it or now, Tom Cruise is a whacko with short people disease and is too afraid to come out of the closet!! There is a screw loose in him that wasn’t always loose but he’s gone over the edge. Am I afraid to say this?? Hell, no! If he wants to disagree, then Bring It, TC.

SJ - Been lurking for a while, thought I’d comment since I honestly just watched the recorded SP. I didn’t find it nearly as funny as the episode where they make fun of the Mormons, so I was kinda disappointed. Thought they could’ve done more with Cruise than just the closet, freaking psycho.
