That’s the night when the lights went out in Georgia

Ok, so NYC doesn’t have power. So don’t many other cities. But all I see on the news is NYC. Since when did half of the NE population not matter anymore?

Yes, it sucks. You don’t have power. Last Dec. my state didn’t have power for UP TO 12 DAYS. And IT WAS SNOWING OUTSIDE. There wasn’t major breaking news. Nobody gave a rats ass about us. I really do feel for people stuck in elevators and subways and the people in hospitals who need power.

But, I do not live in NYC. Why are we forced to listen to press conferences on the radio about it? And, TV news. Lets think about it. If you have TV– you have power. This isn’t affecting you. So why do the TV news people talk about it non stop??? YOUR AUDIENCE CAN’T EVEN HEAR OR SEE YOU.

Plus, I imagine all the NYC-ers without power pretty much KNEW there was no power.

I attributed all the coverage of NYC to the fact that the major networks are all headquartered there. It is also the most densely-populated city that was affected. However, after 15 minutes of coverage there was nothing new to report.

I agree, there’s certainly a media bias in NYC. It’s true for most things, like major sporting events, economic/business news, New Year’s celebrations. It’s the biggest US city, but not the only city!

Thank you for posting this! I couldn’t believe how much publicity was on about this. Like people in the South don’t have blackouts? I remember a few years ago we didn’t have power for 2 days. Some ice storm around Christmas. Did it make CNN or FOX? Nope. Why? Because no one cares! *LOL*

Actually, I’m glad CNN was covering it. One of the talk radio stations here in Toronto airs CNN coverage, and we could get a better idea of what was going on everywhere, even though we couldn’t see it. :)

That’s ’cause New York is the best state in the world. That’s all. You’re all just JEALOUS of us.

You’re jealous of because we RALLY in times of crisis and come together in the face of adversity and show our spirit of COMMUNITY and reach out a helping hand to our neighbors …

Uggh. Screw it. I’m a New Yorker (as you know, of course, SJ) and even *I* didn’t want to hear about it. And now that it’s over, I especially don’t want to hear about it. I don’t want to hear about how it forced people to slow down and take it easy (why do they need a blackout to teach them this VALUABLE LESSON) and how it was such a romantic opportunity to LOOK AT THE STARS. Please.

    Feh.
